NDP supports Canso's quest for answers

Halifax – Michele Raymond, NDP MLA for Halifax Atlantic, has written to the Minister of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations, Barry Barnet, seeking answers to questions Canso residents have about their upcoming plebiscite.

“The citizens of Canso want a straight answer from the Minister,� says Raymond. “Have the wheels already been put in motion for a merger with the Municipality of Guysborough without any town input?�

“I have asked the Minister to clarify what negotiations have taken place. Residents need that information now, before they vote.�

The Town of Canso is holding a plebiscite on January 29, 2005 to determine if it will remain a town or merge into the Municipality of Guysborough.

“The people of this town deserve some honest answers from the Minister.�
